Chris Tsai and Kevin Liu joined UBS Global Research to talk about AI agents in accounts receivable and how agents could change B2B payment terms.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - October 20, 2026. Resolve Pay, an embedded B2B payments and net terms platform, was featured in UBS Global Research's Payments Innovation Event Series. UBS hosted Co-Founder and CEO Chris Tsai and Chief Business Officer Kevin Liu for a discussion on modernizing B2B payments and published its recap on October 16, along with a company profile of Resolve.

Merchants and marketplaces use Resolve Pay to offer net terms, invoicing, credit underwriting and AR automation in one workflow, with buyers getting 30, 60 or 90 days to pay. UBS framed the session for investors following the wider B2B market, including trade credit, AP and AR automation and commercial payments.

Universal Pain Points in B2B Payments

B2B sales have a built-in friction between a merchant who wants to be paid right away and a buyer who'd like more payment flexibility. Closing that gap means extending credit, and underwriting trade credit is hard because a sole proprietor and a public institution require very different credit decisions. After the sale, there are invoices to send, collections to chase, partial payments and disputes to process, and AP and AR to reconcile.

Plenty of B2B orders still come in by phone, at trade shows or by emailed invoice and get keyed into the ERP by hand. A payments product for this market has to underwrite every size of buyer and work for those offline orders as well as online checkout.

Two of Resolve's products are built for this. Embedded Pay Later extends terms to the buyer, with real-time underwriting built on proprietary and third-party data. Embedded AR agents handle the workflow from invoicing to collections and reconciliation.

Value for Payment Providers and Merchants

For payment providers, Pay Later sits alongside card and ACH. It can bring in new volume, help keep merchants on the platform, and let the provider earn on it, too. Earlier this month, Resolve Pay announced an integration with Global Payments' PayFabric, where Resolve is the Pay Later option, and PayFabric keeps powering the pay-now methods.

Merchants can offer net terms or installments and receive up to 100% of the invoice upfront, less a merchant discount rate. Credit risk and collections move to Resolve, and much of the internal work of underwriting and invoicing goes with them.

Resolve said merchants that offer terms typically see sales lift of about 40% from larger, more frequent orders, along with 50% lower loss rates, lower DSO and a 6x return on investment.

AI in B2B Payments

Resolve expects the first practical uses of AI agents to be in accounts receivable, where the day-to-day work is operationally intensive. Its AR agents make buyer credit decisions, send invoices and payment reminders, run dunning and AI-assisted collections calls, handle disputes, and apply and reconcile cash. Payment links, promise-to-pay dates, dispute outcomes and completed payments can then be written back into the merchant's AR platform.

"Finance teams don't want another login. Our agents work inside the AR system they already use," said Kevin.

Identity is still a constraint. A provider has to know an agent is authorized to act for the person or business behind it, which makes KYC, KYB, fraud prevention and agent-level purchasing limits essential.

BNPL in Agentic Commerce

Resolve splits agentic commerce into two cases. Agentic shopping means an agent picks the products. With agentic payments, the buyer picks and hands the payment choice to an agent. The second is where Resolve has more conviction, since an agent could quickly compare financing costs, fees, promotional offers and contract terms across sellers.

Resolve thinks agents will weigh the economics of an offer and the cost of capital behind it. That favors merchants who fund their own promotions, like 0% financing, especially on higher-ticket items that several merchants sell. Agents work through APIs, so where the checkout button sits matters less.

"If two distributors sell the same equipment and one offers 60 days at 0%, an agent's going to pick up on that pretty fast," said Chris.

Funding Models and Partnerships

Large enterprises with low-cost capital can fund receivables through their own balance sheet or banking relationships and use Resolve mainly for underwriting and AR automation. That widens Resolve's market beyond companies looking for outside financing.

Partnerships with eCommerce, ERP and payment platforms usually include a pricing spread or revenue share, so platform partners earn on the funded volume their merchants bring to Resolve.

About Resolve

Resolve Pay is the embedded B2B payments and net terms platform built to let businesses give buyers flexible payment terms while getting paid right away. From credit decisioning and financing to agentic collections, Resolve takes on the parts that usually make net terms a headache, so merchants can extend terms and get paid without absorbing the risk, the cash-flow drag, or the awkward follow-ups with their buyers. Originally spun out of Affirm and backed by leading investors including Insight Partners, Resolve powers modern net terms for merchants across B2B commerce.
